Above is a drawing of a hand feeding a rat. I would like to say that this was inspired by Doug TenNapel, and Ratfist, but that may not be absolutely true. I had no idea what I was going to draw when I started. Some days I am not sure what is going to come onto the paper. I suppose it’s like the thought that the sculpture is already in the marble, you just need to find it. This page was hiding a rat. When I am uncertain, I tend to start with a circle. That circle is hidden in the rat’s head. After looking at the circle, I determined where to lay the next few lines, and quickly, the rat started to exist. He needed something to be looking at, so the hand came in through that process. I think it was during the moment that I realized it was a rat that I made the correlation to TenNapel. He created the only rat media that I have truly consumed, so it must be about him. Either way, what do you think? What happens when you draw a circle?
Ever,
Dylan
